Green gram with sweet coconut (For age 12 months+)

Kids need to eat breakfast to fuel their body for the day ahead after going without food for about 10-12 hours during sleeping. Breakfast helps to kick start their body’s metabolism. Choosing breakfast foods that are rich in fiber and protein is very important. Breakfast with high proteins satisfy a child's appetite longer.There are lots of brainy breakfast menu around us like, scrambled egg, hard-boiled egg, yogurt, whole grain cereal etc. Whatever we give to our kid we need to satisfy that little tummy. 
When I was a kid, my mother used to make a special green gram recipe for us kids. So, this recipe is something very special for me. As you all may know green gram is loaded with healthy nutrients especially with protein and fiber. Also these are easily digestible too, so great for kids. My son is a picky breakfast eater, so I always looking around for the breakfast recipes which he should like. Few days back my mother had suggested me to make this recipe and I was so surprised, “why I did not think about this recipe which was one of my favorite breakfasts”. So I decided to try it on very next day and yes, he liked it. But I had to change the consistency as per my son’s taste. He liked it in a soaky way, so i decided to cook my green grams very well. Probably you may have all the ingredients for this “Green gram with sweet coconut” recipe in your hand. Enjoy this healthy easy breakfast with your little-one. 



Ingredients (For two servings)
Green gram (Green Mung Beans)- 2 OZ
Coconut- 1 OZ
Sugar or Jaggery (grated)- 1 Tsp
Salt, a pinch

Method
Step 1: Soak green gram overnight or at least for 5 hours.

Step 2: Wash soaked green gram and cook it by adding water (4 OZ) and a pinch of salt. I usually use my pressure cooker by giving 1 whistle. Drain off excess water.

Step 3: Add coconut with sugar or grated jaggery to the cooked green gram. Stir well and it is ready to serve. Serve with warm milk.

Spaghetti Alfredo (For Toddler)

I know, alfredo sauce in pasta is always rich, is that a healthier choice? Yes, for our kids it is a healthier choice, they need all these fat and protein from Alfredo Sauce which consists of 3 very basic ingredients like parmesan cheese, heavy cream and butter. You can use store bought alfredo sauce, but have you ever tried to make it at home? It is really very easy to make it at home and can be used as an ingredient for kid friendly pasta dinner or toss cooked vegetables or chicken with alfredo sauce. Try this easy Spaghetti Alfredo recipe and enjoy it with your family.



For making Spaghetti Alfredo you need these ingredients,

Spaghetti- 100 Gram
Butter- 1 Tbsp
Garlic- 3 small cloves, minced
Orange zest or lemon zest- ½ Tsp
Heavy cream- 200 mL
Parmesan cheese- 1 Tbsp
Dried parsley flakes, for garnish
Salt and pepper, to taste

Method
Step 1: Cook pasta in boiling water by adding salt according to the packet instruction (I usually give 10 minutes to cook my pasta). Once it is fully cooked, drain pasta and keep is aside.

Step 2: Heat a medium pan and melt butter.

Step 3: Saute garlic in butter until it becomes transparent.

Step 4: To this, add heavy cream and allow it to reduce by boiling for about 2 minutes. Now add orange zest and pepper. Give a stir and reduce heat.

Step 5: Add parmesan cheese to this and mix well. Check for salt and pepper.

Step 6: Add cooked pasta to this creamy alfredo sauce and mix them very well until your pasta is well coated with sauce.


Spaghetti Alfredo is ready to serve. Serve warm with parsley to garnish.
