Blueberry Banana Smoothie (For age 12 months+)

I began to introduce smoothie to my son when he was around 8 months. His first smoothie was avocado banana smoothie. How he can avoid that smoothie, NO WAY! because avocado is one of his favorite fruits in the world!!. 
Smoothie is a great way to make sure your baby is getting many healthy ingredients which are in a way of easy to digest. What I love about fruit smoothies is that you can squeeze plenty of nutrient-rich fruits into a single serving.
This Blueberry Banana smoothie is a kind of breakfast smoothie but you can give this to your kid any time of the day.



Blueberries are ranked among the healthiest fruits all time, in addition to the vitamins and other nutrients, these little berries are antioxidant rich. So try to include these berries in your family diet.
Banana is an ideal fruit for babies. These are easy to digest, rich with Vitamin B6, Vitamin C and Vitamin B2. One of the most important nutritional components of bananas is fiber.
I am sure this delicious beautiful Blueberry Banana Smoothie will be a favorite for your kids!!

Ingredients (For one serving)
Blueberries- 1/3 cup
Banana- 1/2
Milk- 1/2 cup
Honey- 1 Tsp
Pistachios- 5

Method 
Wash blueberries and blend them with banana, milk, honey and pistachios. Blueberry Banana smoothie is ready to serve.

Ingredients: Blueberries, banana, milk, pistachios and honey

Mix all the ingredients in a blender until you get a smooth smoothie!

Sweet Shells (For toddler)

Making your kid’s food in more creative or fun way, make them more willing to try them. My son loves those kind of funny shape things like strawberry flower, airplane sandwich, veggie scooter etc. Few days back while he was not having his breakfast, I made a cheerios tow truck (Check in my Instagram page) and he had all those cheerios by picking up each of them. Sometimes Mommy tricks will winJ.
This time I am sharing a sweet shell snack recipe with you. This is so fun when you make it with your little helper. Of course this will be messy but too fun having them around.

Sweet Shells


Ingredients (For medium size 20 shells)
All-purpose flour- 1/2 cup
Butter, melted- 1/3 Tbsp
Cardamom (optional)- 1/3 Tsp seed, grounded
Salt, a pinch
Powdered sugar, for sprinkle
Oil, for deep frying
Fork, for making shape

Method
Step 1: Mix flour, melted butter and salt into a large size bowl. Make smooth dough by adding warm water and make small size balls with the dough.

Step 2: For making the shell shape, flatten the ball dough and slightly press them over the fork and roll to form the shape of shell and remove from the fork. Repeat it to make shells with rest of the dough balls.

Step 3: Heat the oil in a pan and fry the shells until they turn golden color. Transfer them to a paper towel to drain the oil.

Step 4: Sprinkle powdered sugar just before serving. Serve warm.

Ingredients: All-purpose flour, butter, cardamom, salt, powdered sugar and oil

Green gram with sweet coconut (For age 12 months+)

Kids need to eat breakfast to fuel their body for the day ahead after going without food for about 10-12 hours during sleeping. Breakfast helps to kick start their body’s metabolism. Choosing breakfast foods that are rich in fiber and protein is very important. Breakfast with high proteins satisfy a child's appetite longer.There are lots of brainy breakfast menu around us like, scrambled egg, hard-boiled egg, yogurt, whole grain cereal etc. Whatever we give to our kid we need to satisfy that little tummy. 
When I was a kid, my mother used to make a special green gram recipe for us kids. So, this recipe is something very special for me. As you all may know green gram is loaded with healthy nutrients especially with protein and fiber. Also these are easily digestible too, so great for kids. My son is a picky breakfast eater, so I always looking around for the breakfast recipes which he should like. Few days back my mother had suggested me to make this recipe and I was so surprised, “why I did not think about this recipe which was one of my favorite breakfasts”. So I decided to try it on very next day and yes, he liked it. But I had to change the consistency as per my son’s taste. He liked it in a soaky way, so i decided to cook my green grams very well. Probably you may have all the ingredients for this “Green gram with sweet coconut” recipe in your hand. Enjoy this healthy easy breakfast with your little-one. 



Ingredients (For two servings)
Green gram (Green Mung Beans)- 2 OZ
Coconut- 1 OZ
Sugar or Jaggery (grated)- 1 Tsp
Salt, a pinch

Method
Step 1: Soak green gram overnight or at least for 5 hours.

Step 2: Wash soaked green gram and cook it by adding water (4 OZ) and a pinch of salt. I usually use my pressure cooker by giving 1 whistle. Drain off excess water.

Step 3: Add coconut with sugar or grated jaggery to the cooked green gram. Stir well and it is ready to serve. Serve with warm milk.

Spaghetti Alfredo (For Toddler)

I know, alfredo sauce in pasta is always rich, is that a healthier choice? Yes, for our kids it is a healthier choice, they need all these fat and protein from Alfredo Sauce which consists of 3 very basic ingredients like parmesan cheese, heavy cream and butter. You can use store bought alfredo sauce, but have you ever tried to make it at home? It is really very easy to make it at home and can be used as an ingredient for kid friendly pasta dinner or toss cooked vegetables or chicken with alfredo sauce. Try this easy Spaghetti Alfredo recipe and enjoy it with your family.



For making Spaghetti Alfredo you need these ingredients,

Spaghetti- 100 Gram
Butter- 1 Tbsp
Garlic- 3 small cloves, minced
Orange zest or lemon zest- ½ Tsp
Heavy cream- 200 mL
Parmesan cheese- 1 Tbsp
Dried parsley flakes, for garnish
Salt and pepper, to taste

Method
Step 1: Cook pasta in boiling water by adding salt according to the packet instruction (I usually give 10 minutes to cook my pasta). Once it is fully cooked, drain pasta and keep is aside.

Step 2: Heat a medium pan and melt butter.

Step 3: Saute garlic in butter until it becomes transparent.

Step 4: To this, add heavy cream and allow it to reduce by boiling for about 2 minutes. Now add orange zest and pepper. Give a stir and reduce heat.

Step 5: Add parmesan cheese to this and mix well. Check for salt and pepper.

Step 6: Add cooked pasta to this creamy alfredo sauce and mix them very well until your pasta is well coated with sauce.


Spaghetti Alfredo is ready to serve. Serve warm with parsley to garnish.

Pumpkin Soup (For Toddler)

We parents are often confused what to feed when our baby gets sick. Because they will be miserable with stomachache or stuffy nose or sore throat when they are sick. Whatever they have When your baby is sick he won’t eat or drink anything. So they can get dehydrated. But we have to get them hydrated again. What I usually do is offer light and watery food, so we can make sure that they get enough nutrient and water too. My usual choice is soup like vegetable soup or chicken soup. I made this special pumpkin soup for my whole family and everybody loved it so much. I am sharing the recipe with you all.

Ingredients
Pumpkin, small size- ½
Vegetable broth- 1 Cup
Butter- 1/2 Tbsp
Ginger Garlic paste- 1 Tsp
Cinnamon powder- ½ Tsp
Pepper powder- 1/3 Tsp
Almond Cashew powder- 2 Tbsp
Crushed pista- 1 Tsp
Salt, to taste

Method
Step 1: For making Almond  Cashew paste, take 1 Tbsp each almonds and cashews and powder them in a blender. Soak this mixture in water to make a paste.

Step 2: Peel off the pumpkin skin and cut them into cube pieces. Cook them in a pressure cooker (1 whistle) by adding pepper and salt.

Step 3: Blend the cooked pumpkin and keep it aside.

Step 4: Heat a pan over medium heat, melt the butter and saute ginger garlic paste. When it turns brown add cinnamon powder and saute for another 20 seconds.

Step 5: Now it is time to add almond cashew paste and when it starts to boil add vegetable broth and allow it to boil.

Step 6: When this mixture boils well, add pureed pumpkin and mix them very well. Allow it to boil. Taste and season with salt and pepper. Pumpkin Soup is ready to serve. Serve warm and top with crushed pista.


Ingredients: Pumpkin, Vegetable broth, ginger garlic paste, almond cashew paste, cinnamon and pepper

Almond Cashew paste

Cook pumpkin by adding salt and pepper and puree cooked pumpkin

Saute ginger garlic paste and cinnamon

Add almond cashew paste to sauted mixture

Add vegetable broth and allow it to boil

Add pureed pumpkin to the boiling vegetable broth mixture

Check for salt and pepper. Pumpkin soup is ready to serve.

Homemade GoldFish Crackers and Christmas Cheese Crackers (For Toddler)

I cannot believe where this year has gone? It feels like it has gone by so fast. We had an extremely busy 2015 with few ups and downs. But overall we had a great 2015. We moved to new place, started my blog and I feel like it is different and I really enjoy this. I am writing this blog on December 12 and only 13 days away from Christmas. Yes, Christmas is right around the corner. Our Christmas tree is already up and it is just so beautiful. We had so much fun with our little-one while we were doing the Christmas decorations.
How many of you are looking for a homemade holiday treat for your little-one?. How about having a cooking fun time with your kids?. Try these GoldFish crackers and Christmas shaped cheese crackers recipe. You will have lots of fun during this cooking project. And of course it will be messy and slow, but fun!! My son was so excited to make those shapes especially while he was doing with teddy bear shaped cutter.  My son is a big fan of GoldFish crackers. I usually buy it from stores. I never thought I would make them at home. I got this recipe from Pinterest (food4tots) and I made few modifications and yes this would be perfect for your cracker tray on Christmas or New Year party.

Ingredients
All-purpose flour- 1 Cup
Extra sharp Cheddar Cheese- 5 OZ
Unsalted butter- 50 Gram
Pepper- 1/3 Tsp
Salt- ½ Tsp
Dry oregano, a pinch
Cookie cutters including a Fish shape cutter


Method
Step 1: Shred or cut butter into small pieces and mix into flour until you get a coarse crumbs.

Step 2: Shred the cheese and mix them with flour mixture by adding salt.

Step 3: By using your hand, knead the mixture until you get medium soft dough.

Step 4: Separate the dough into two sections. To one section, add pepper and oregano and knead again to mix the dough very well with pepper and oregano.

Step 5: Wrap two sections with plastic and keep them in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.  

Step 6: Once the dough chilled, take them out from refrigerator and roll out the two portions. Before you start cutting the rolled dough with shapes, you need to preheat the oven to 350 degrees. 

Now the cutting fun part begins. Do it with your little-ones. It will take more time but will worth once you are done.

Step 7: Using a chopstick you can easily make fish eyeball and use a small spoon to make its curvy lip.

Step 8: Now transfer them on to cookie sheet and bake them for about 12 minutes until the crackers are golden brown in color.


Remove the crackers from the baking sheets and set aside to cool. Serve immediately, or store in an air tight container.

Ingredients: All-purpose flour, Cheddar cheese, butter and shape cutters

Mix flour with butter

Mix grated cheese with flour mixture and make medium soft dough

Roll out dough

Make shapes with cutters

Using a chopstick and spoon make a perfect eyeball and curvy lip of fish

Bake them until they turn golden brown color
